The minting of a coin is, in itself, an act of sovereignty. But it is also an opportunity — as unique as it is grand — to promote the culture of a people and explore chapters of their collective history. It was with this responsibility firmly in mind that we designed the collector's set for the 2017 commemorative coins.

We created a set of single-sheet inserts that only becomes complete with each coin in the numismatic plan, helping to celebrate and promote the themes represented. Visually, we created a single grid — presented in the box housing the inserts — applied to the front of each sheet. Based on this grid, we interpreted each theme in a subtle yet identifiable way, so as not to overshadow each coin and its illustrator's style. For the same reason, we opted for predominantly neutral colours: black, white and silver. On the reverse of each sheet, alongside the coin's technical details, we included a short contextual synopsis of the theme. The final piece is itself a collector's object that particularly reinforces each coin and its respective theme — and, in a broader perspective, helps promote numismatic collecting.

Alongside the collector's set, and in an umbilical relationship with it, we designed the graphic project for the book História no Bolso [History in a Pocket] by journalist Ricardo J. Rodrigues, which addresses each of the themes represented on the commemorative coins. The project was guided by sobriety and distinction, dividing the spotlight between the coins and the stories told about them.
